Arsenal transfer news LIVE: £26m Fabian Ruiz on radar, Gabriel Jesus’ agents ‘fly to London’, Raphinha ‘offer £50m’
Edu predicts more big signings
Arsenal technical director Edu has teased even more big signings in the coming weeks.
The Gunners have secured their third transfer window buy after spending £34m on Porto attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira.
The Portugal Under-21 international joins United States goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazil striker Marquinhos in arriving at the Emirates so far.
Arsenal are far from done with business, with several key targets still potentially on their way to north London.
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, Leeds winger Raphinha and Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez have all been heavily linked.
And when asked if he expected any more signings to be announced soon after Vieira completed his switch, Edu smiled and said: “Yes, I’m very excited.
Arsenal remain on the path of buying young talent to bolster boss Mikel Arteta’s squad, and 22-year-old Vieira and 19-year-old Marquinhos are pushing the average age down further.
Academy product Eddie Nketiah, 23, has also recently signed a contract extension. Last summer’s purchases, including Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga, were all 23 and under.
