Link the Aadhaar card to the SBI savings account to benefit from government grants
It is mandatory for State Bank of India (SBI) clients to link their Aadhaar card to their bank accounts if they wish to receive government benefits. This means that if an SBI customer has not yet linked their Aadhaar card to their SBI bank account, they cannot receive the direct bank transfer (DBT) to their accounts from the government.
“We would like to inform our customers that Aadhar card priming is mandatory for those who wish to receive benefits or subsidies from the Indian government through direct benefit transfer,” SBI said in a tweet.
It should be noted that not all bank customers are required to link their Aadhaar card to their bank accounts according to a ruling by the Supreme Court of India. This is for customers who receive government grants through DBT who are required to link their Aadhaar card to the bank account.
Customers can check if their Aadhaar card was linked to their bank account by visiting the official website of the Single Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and check the link status of their Aadhaar card / bank account. If they are not linked, customers can link their Aadhaar card to their bank account in these ways:
-Customers must enter their credit or debit card PIN code at any SBI ATM
-They can then select the option Service followed by Registrations
-After selecting their account type, they can enter their Aadhaar number. It would be necessary to re-enter the Aadhaar number
-Customers will receive an SMS on their registered mobile number with the seeding status mentioned therein
-Customers must first visit and log into their account on the SBI official website: www.onlinesbi.com
-They can then go to My accounts and select the option Link your Aadhaar number
-Users can select the account number and enter their Aadhaar details and submit them
-An SMS will be sent to the mobile number registered on the status of Aadhaar sowing
SBI customers can also link their Aadhaar card to their bank account through the SBI Anywhere app or by visiting an SBI bank branch near their home.
